Pablo Garcia: Pablo is a 16 year old teenager from Spain. He lives in Alicante, a city located in the sea shore of the Mediterranean Sea with his parents and his older brother. He loves to go on new adventures. This time he came to Canada thanks to the Rotary Youth Exchange. He had an amazing experience here and would like to share.
Ali Abushenuf is a 15-year-old boy from Hilden NS. He lives with his parents and 3 younger siblings. Ali is going into grade 11 at South Colchester Academy. He is an adventurous boy who has had a love for traveling since his first plane ride when he was just 2 years old. He has traveled to many countries since and when he heard of the Rotary Exchange Program he jumped at the chance to take part in it.
Tessa MacIntosh is entering Grade 11 IB at CEC. She lives in Valley and has an older sister Grace who is also involved with Interac. Both Tessa’s parents are teachers, so together they were able to host Louenn Colineaux from France and explore our beautiful province in July. Louenn came to Valley for three weeks, and then she and Tessa flew to France, where she was met by Louenn’s parents (also both teachers) and her two brothers.
Pictured are Rotarians Ken Maclean and Barbara Goit along with students Tessa MacIntosh, Ali Abusheuf and Pablo Garcia.
The three students gave interesting presentations on their exchange experiences. It appears that they all had a wonderful time visiting each others homes, getting to experience the sights and cultures of the other students. From the presentations it was apparent that the European students were most interested in the "wildness" of our country while our local students were impressed with the history and culture of Europe. They all enjoyed the food!
Barbara and Ken thanked the students on behalf of the club.
Member Health: No report.
Announcements and Reports:

Matt Redmond reported that the last of the contracts for the Yearbook were dragging in. If there were still some out there so get them in this week so the photos can be completed and the process moved to the next phase.

Jane reminded people to get silent auction items for Bollywood night to Laura as soon as possible.
Jim Goit informed the club that the Rotary Friendship Exchange group from District 9790 in South Eastern Australia would be visiting our area on the 22nd and 23rd of September. There will be 5 couples arriving. We have secured billets for 3 of the couples already but are looking for volunteers to host the remaining two couples for the two nights. The current plan is to tour them around the area on Sunday doing touristy things, have a quite evening Sunday, tour again Monday and have a potluck evening of September 23rd at the Goit Home for club members, family and our guests. Details to follow. He and Barbara have booked their tickets for the outbound portion of the RFE next March.

Happy Mug:
Joanna was happy for a great weekend at the cottage
Ken MacDonald was happy for a wonderful birthday party in NL.
Jim Gould was happy his son and daughter-in law were having their baby on Tuesday. He was also glad to have had one of his better golf games this past week.
Jane was happy that her husbands' brother and his wife would be relocating to the province from the US.
Jim Goit was happy for the great Rotary social event on Sunday at noon at the home of Laurie and Mike Sandeson. While numbers were down somewhat this year, there was a lot of great food, games (courtesy of Kyle) and fellowship. Thank you to laurie and Mike for hosting. Join us next year
50/50: Ken Maclean had the lucky ticket so he asked Tessa, one of our speakers to pick a card. The joker evaded her so the $9.00 pot is left to build.
Members of the Rotary Club of Truro along with a number of Special Olympics swimmers made their swam across Shortt's Lake in the annual Swim for Polio. While it will take the club some time to calculate the total money raised, it's safe to say that everyone had a great time and the effort will help in the campaign to finally eliminate polio from the earth.
The Rotary Club of Truro is a proud supporter of the >United Way of Colchester County's Back to School Program. In the photo Club Treasurer Al Cooze is flanked by United Way of Colchester Executive Director, Terry Hearn (L) and Back to School Program Coordinator, Katie Allen (R)
