Attendance at club meetings is confusing for new members. A short guide is provided to help you understand it.

Attendance:
Members are expected to attend at least50 percent of regularmeetings. On no account should four consecutive meetings be missed without excuse or makeup.

Make-ups.
You may get attendance credit if you miss a club
meeting if, within 14 days before or after the missed meeting, you meet one of the following conditions:

Attend a regular meeting of another Rotary Club

Serve on Rotary business as an RI committee officer or member, a Rotary Foundation trustee, or district governor's special

Attend or travel with reasonable directness to or from a RI Convention, RI committee meeting, District conference or any District committee meeting held by direction of district governor

Participate directly and actively in a service project sponsored by the district, RI, or The Rotary Foundation in a remote area where a make-up opportunity isn't possible

Attend and participate in a club service project or club-sponsored community event or meeting authorized by the board

Attend a board meeting or, if authorized by the board, a meeting of a service committee to which the member is assigned

Participate through a club Web site in an interactive activity requiring an average of 30 minutes of participation

Process
. Please let the attendance chair know about the makeup as soon as you can so it can be credited. (Don't assume they know)

Attend a regular meeting of another Rotary Club

Leave of Absence
. Given good and sufficient cause, a leave of absence from attending the meetings of the club for a specified length of time may be granted by the Board upon written application.

Excused attendance.
Members whose combined age and years of membership (in one or more clubs) totals at least 85 years may submit a written notice to the club secretary, asking to be excused from attendance.
