Three more Club Members Complete Part 3 of Rotary Leadership Institure Training
RLI was first established in 1992 as a grassroots coalition of Rotary districts implementing a leadership development and information program for Rotary Clubs.
The RLI chapter in the Atlantic Region was established as a partnership between Districts 7810 and 7820 covering part of Maine in the US, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and
Prince Edward Island in Canada and St. Pierre & Miquelon, France. The first leadership sessions in this division were held in 2004. Since then over 330 Rotarians have taken at least one of the three parts of the training. Seventeen members of the Rotary Club of Truro have taken been involved in the program: the highest number from any culb in the two districts.
RLI provides a basic course in both Rotary knowledge and leadership skills for voluntary organizations. It consists of three parts, each one day in length. In addition to the basic three day long courses, RLI holds in-depth seminars on important Rotary subjects, including advanced leadership, for the “graduates” of the basic course.
All member clubs may send any club Rotarian to RLI courses and any Rotarian may attend any course at his/her own initiative.
The overriding goal of the courses for club Rotarians is to
create enthusian for Rotary by opening up to them the world of Rotary
outside of their own clubs and also showing them the great potential of
Rotary service for the benefit of the world.
RLI is a great general Rotary education program, while most Rotary International training programs are "job-specific"; That is, Rotary International trains Rotarians for specific positions while graduates of RLI bring a greatly enhanced background in all Rotary activity.
All Rotarians are encouraged to attend the RLI sessions. http://www.rotaryleadershipinstitute.org/index.html
